Axewomen take top spot at UPEI Meet

CHARLOTTETOWN, PEI - the Acadia Axewomen Cross Country Team came out on top during the 8 kilometre race that took place at UPEI.

With a total time of 1:40:23, the Axewomen team came home with high spots on the roster. Madalyn Higgins came in first place, Jessie Armstrong came in fourth, Nicole Skinner came in sixth, Sarah Lavallee came in seventh, Michelle Macdonald came in tenth, Sophie Knowles came in eleventh, Kelsey Crouse came in twelfth, and Lindsay Myles came in fifteenth.

Madalyn Higgins says that "The course was much easier than Hennigars but comparable to the other course we run" and that "Hennigar's is very hilly" and "the hardest course we run." She set out several goals, ultimately achieving all of them: "Have a good run, practice the 8km, and run sub 30 minute 8k." According to Madalyn, the entire team ran well despite the cold weather and not getting a full warm-up.

Coach Ralph Williams says that he is "very happy with the results of the team" and "considering the conditions of cold rain and strong winds" is "proud of what they achieved."<

The Axewomen will now prepare for the AUS Championship hosted by UNB on October 26, 2019.
