Axewomen finish fifth at Moncton Invitational
At the 2024 Moncton Invitational women's cross-country race, Acadia's runners performed well, with several strong finishes. Paris Buchanan led the Acadia squad, finishing 31st overall with a time of 33:15. She was closely followed by teammate Ella Campbell, who finished 32nd in 33:21. The next Acadia finisher was Anne-Sophie Le Rudulier, clocking in at 33:39 for 35th place, demonstrating consistent performance from the team.
Clementine MacLeod was Acadia's fourth finisher, taking 39th place in 34:11. Grace Earle rounded out Acadia's top five, finishing in 46th place with a time of 35:10. Other Acadia finishers included Maggie Graves, who came in 48th at 35:31, and Ava Joseph, who completed the race in 35:47 to place 49th. Amanda Daniels and Lauren Doyle also contributed to the team effort, finishing 55th and 56th, respectively, with times of 37:16 and 37:25.
Acadia's team finished in 5th place overall, scoring 133 points with their top five runners. Their total team time was 2:49:36, and their average time was 33:55.20.
The individual champion of the women's race was Mairin Canning of St. Francis Xavier, finishing in 29:59. St. Francis Xavier dominated the event, securing both the top team position with 22 points and placing several runners in the top spots. Dalhousie Tigers took second place with 45 points, while Memorial Sea-Hawks rounded out the top three teams with 102 points.
Acadia will now prepare for the AUS championship, which is scheduled to take place in St. John's on October 26, hosted by Memorial University.
