Axemen fall to 5-3-0 with 2-0 loss to UNB

WOLFVILLE, N.S. - The Axemen fell to the UNB Reds 2-0 on Friday night's matchup on Homecoming Weekend.

No goals were scored in the first, though there was plenty of action on either end. It looked like the Reds had a goal at 39 minutes, but it was called back due to an offside violation.

The Reds finally got on the board when Luis Garcia (San Antonio, Texas) sent a corner kick out front for Joe Hamilton (Morecambe, UK), who recorded his first goal of the season, giving the Reds a 1-0 advantage.

The Axemen fell to a 2-0 deficit late in the second half when Tristan Nkoghe (Sherbrooke, Que.) tapped the ball into a wide-open net off a well-placed pass from teammate Alex O'Brien (Charlottetown, P.E.I).

Nkoghe's goal was good enough to earn him the Subway Player of the Game award along with Acadia's Ryan Parris (Pembroke, Bermuda).

Acadia went into a mode of desperation in the final few minutes, where they had some of their best chances of the game, but they would be shut out of this game 2-0.

The Axemen fall to 5-3-0 and look to rebound against Moncton on Sunday, while the UNB Reds improve ot 5-2-2 and visit the Saint Mary's Huskies on Sunday.
