WOLFVILLE – Three separate Capers scored as Cape Breton (5-0-0) topped the Acadia Axemen (1-2-3) 3-1 on Saturday.
Nikoali Scheurenbrand opened the scoring in the 32nd minute, with Acadia holding the nationally ranked squad to just that goal heading into halftime.
Owen Sheppard scored the game-winning goal in the 72nd minute, which was followed by a third Cape Breton goal in the 84th minute by Amadou Bayo.
A late goal by Akuzike Chipudhla for Acadia cut into the Capers lead, but ultimately was too late to mount a comeback in the 86th minute.
Dylan Legere made nine saves in the loss, while Jordan Watkins made two saves in Cape Breton's victory.
Sunday afternoon the Capers take on Saint Mary's in Halifax, while Acadia hosts STFX at Raymond Field. Kick-off is 3:15 p.m.
